Irish Turf Incense, Made by Ian in South Armagh
Hi, I'm Ian. I make turf incense so you can smell a turf fire at home, no fireplace needed.

I started Aureal in 2019, making candles and fragrance products for local shops. The aim was a luxury product line that is all natural. Since then I have grown the range a lot, with white label work for other small businesses and charities too.

Turf Incense was born in late 2022. I missed the smell of an Irish turf fire, but every time I lit my own fire, the scent went up the chimney for everyone else to enjoy! So I set out to bring that smell into my home, and tested all sorts of ways to do it.

Lots of tinkering later, I had miniature turf sods that light really easily and burn very slowly, something a real turf sod would struggle with!

I knew so many others would want that smell too. So I made a small pack that ships anywhere in the world, with only natural ingredients and no chemicals at all. I paired it with reused and recycled slates from the roof of an old cottage.

A few years ago I made a big change. I left a difficult relationship and a job and commute that were wearing me down, and moved to the country. Building Aureal, and making natural, unique products, has kept me going since. I'm delighted to say we are growing fast!

Hi, my name is Ian. I started Aureal in 2019 making aromatherapy candles and fragrance products for local shops, with the aim of having a luxury but all natural product line.
Since then, I have expanded my product line greatly, offering white label services to other small businesses and charities, creating new and unique products for myself and others.
Turf Incense was born late 2022 as I yearned for the smell of an Irish Turf fire, but every time I lit my own fire, the scent was carried up the chimney for everyone else to enjoy! I wanted to be able to recreate the smell in my home and went about testing all sorts of methods to be able to do this.
Lots of tinkering later and I had come up with miniature Turf sods which lit really easily and burned very slowly, something a real Turf sod would struggle with!!
Knowing that so many others would want to experience the same recreation of this I wanted to create a small sized pack that could be easily shipped anywhere in the world, using only natural ingredients and no chemicals at all. This combined with reused / recycled slates from the roof of an old cottage made the perfect combination for any lover of the unique scent!
After leaving a toxic relationship, a soul-destroying job and commute to save my mental health and moving to the country, the creation of Aureal and my dedication to continue to create all natural and unique products has kept me going, and I'm delighted to say that we are expanding rapidly!
